A unique and historic “cabin” has been a bird watching paradise for many decades. With this project the team designed exhibits that would encourage the next generation of birders using modern day standards of museum education. Exhibits were developed to appeal to young audiences by encouraging play and exploration – using their senses to learn the key components of bird identification. Other exhibits emphasize the important roll of citizen science, bird friendly backyards and the critical needs of migratory birds. Central to the design was creating an environment that honored the rustic roots of the original owners while keeping the focus on the outdoor habitat where birds can be seen and enjoyed.

The day after it opened a father with his son came in and said, "The designer knew what they were doing – it is [the new exhibits] perfectly designed for my child...” That's pretty great!
